U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, shared a series of posts on December 5, 2025, addressing her engagement with local leaders and her advocacy for child care issues.

In one post from that day, Pettersen wrote: “So great to welcome my friend & Arvada Mayor, Lauren Simpson! Love to see my friends and leaders from Colorado here in DC. “ (December 5, 2025).

Later the same day, she highlighted the challenges faced by working parents and announced her involvement in a new initiative: “As a mom, I know how hard it is to balance work, family, and the cost of child care. Too many parents are being forced to choose between their careers and caring for their kids.

That’s why I’m proud to help launch the @DemWomenCaucus Caregiving Task Force. I’m honored to help” (December 5, 2025).

In another post that evening, Pettersen described the difficulties families encounter when seeking affordable child care: “Families across Colorado and the country are struggling to find affordable, reliable child care, which has cascading impacts on our entire economy. During my visit to Bal Swan School, I heard how rising costs and limited access are impacting working families and what a difference” (December 5, 2025).

Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th district since replacing Ed Perlmutter in Congress in 2023. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—from the House of Representatives between 2013 and 2019 and then in the Senate until joining Congress. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
