U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on April 1, 2026, addressing issues ranging from space exploration to social media regulation and election integrity.
In her first post at 15:52 UTC, Pettersen commented on the Artemis II launch: “As we watch the historic launch of Artemis II today, I am incredibly proud of the role Colorado played in getting humanity back to space. The Orion spacecraft, built from the work and materials of hard-working Coloradans, will carry four astronauts around the Moon. Colorado is”.
Later that day at 17:30 UTC, she addressed state-level efforts to regulate social media companies: “Proud of Colorado for taking this much-needed step forward to hold social media companies accountable and keep our communities safe. Now it’s time for the House to pass my bill at the federal level to force social media companies to respond quicker to credible threats, so law”.
At 19:00 UTC, Pettersen turned her attention to election policy: “Our elections aren’t nationalized for a reason— to prevent any one person from unilaterally controlling them. Yet, Trump signed an executive order to seize control of American elections by restricting mail-in voting, creating a federal voter list, and threatening to defund states”.
Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th district in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature and holds a degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Born in Lakewood in 1981, she continues to reside there while serving as a member of Congress.
