U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, addressed two key issues affecting her state in a series of posts on April 29, 2026: the ongoing fentanyl crisis and federal disaster relief for wildfires.

In one post marking National Fentanyl Awareness Day, Pettersen stated, “On National Fentanyl Awareness Day, we increase awareness about the dangers of this drug to prevent further tragedies & make sure people like my mom aren’t again left with nowhere to turn. (4/4)” (April 29, 2026).

She also commented on recent legislative developments related to fentanyl policy: “In Colorado, we led the way to increase access to treatment and reduce fentanyl deaths by 35%, but Trump’s Big Ugly Bill will dismantle the progress we’ve made. (3/4)” (April 29, 2026).

Addressing another major issue for Colorado residents, Pettersen discussed wildfire threats and criticized past federal disaster relief decisions: “As wildfires become a year-round threat, in CO, we cannot afford a federal government that turns its back on us when disaster strikes.

Trump denied disaster relief to CO multiple times because we refused to bend the knee. I’m proud to introduce the Disaster Declaration https://t.co/b4pNCmwtdF” (April 29, 2026).

Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, she holds a Bachelor of Arts from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
