U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight local heroes, address environmental concerns, and share news of a recent award.

On April 14, 2026, Pettersen recognized a Colorado veteran by posting: “Today I want to recognize Maj. Stephen Ramsbottom of Cripple Creek — a 21-year Army Reserve veteran, a father of four, and the first combat-wounded Colorado soldier from the Iran war to come home. He was wounded saving others. And when he stood before his community, he honored” (April 14, 2026).

Later that day, she addressed ongoing environmental challenges facing the state: “We’re facing a historic drought in CO, which has cascading impacts on our rural communities — from straining our farmers & ranchers to hurting our tourism industry that relies on healthy rivers. Trump’s funding cuts to water projects are only making this crisis worse. We need” (April 14, 2026).

On April 15, Pettersen shared her appreciation for being honored by a local organization: “It was such an honor to be awarded the 2026 Courageous Leadership Award from Illuminate Colorado! Illuminate does such important work protecting the safety & wellbeing of our kids. I’m grateful for their partnership & proud to fight alongside them to ensure every child has the” (April 15, 2026).

Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th district in Congress since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—first in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 and then in the Senate until her election to Congress in 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen is an alumna of Metropolitan State University of Denver.
