U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently addressed a range of public safety and infrastructure concerns in a series of posts on her official social media account.
On July 19, Pettersen emphasized the impact of wildfires in Colorado and highlighted her efforts to secure resources for local prevention. She stated, “In Colorado, we know too well how scary and devastating wildfires can be. I’m using my position in Congress to safeguard our https://t.co/INiTu6bWem, I’m proud to highlight funding I requested to bolster fire prevention in Jeffco. This will help our first responders not only”.
The following day, she discussed infrastructure improvements for clean water access in Park County: “I’m using my position in Congress to request $3 million in federal funding to replace outdated wastewater infrastructure in Park County. Clean, safe water is non-negotiable for my family and yours. I’m fighting to secure this funding so we can keep making good on that promise to” (July 20).
Later on July 20, Pettersen marked the anniversary of the Aurora theater shooting with a call for federal gun safety measures: “13 years ago, 12 lives were lost in a mass shooting at a movie theater in Aurora. Our kids should be able to go to school, the grocery store, and movie theatre without worrying about their safety. We need federal gun safety policies to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous”.
Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter; she previously held positions in both chambers of Colorado’s legislature from 2013 through early 2023 ([source](https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/P000619)). Born and raised in Colorado and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41, Pettersen is an alumna of Metropolitan State University of Denver.
