U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media highlighting her support for young women in the workforce and voicing concerns about proposed federal health care cuts.
On October 4, 2025, Pettersen wrote about her participation in an event organized by the HOYA Foundation: “Great to join the HOYA Foundation to support their work engaging young women in the opportunities available for them to work in the construction and transportation industry. Their event hosted 2,000 girls in high school to expose them to the unlimited opportunities here in”.
The following day, she addressed children’s health insurance coverage and criticized a proposed federal bill: “More than 77,000 children in our state don’t have health insurance. And that number is going to be even more staggering with Trump’s Big Ugly Bill which makes the largest Medicaid cut in history and guts billions out of our health care system. As a mom, my heart breaks for the” (October 5, 2025).
On October 6, Pettersen commented on bipartisan negotiations regarding health care policy: “Donald Trump refuses to come to the table and negotiate with Democrats on a bipartisan path forward to lower health care costs for working families. Democrats are standing up to his trillion dollar cut to our health care and working to address the urgent needs of our country. So”.
Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of both chambers of Colorado’s legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a BA from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
