U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently shared updates from her rural tour and commented on economic issues affecting families in her state.

On August 19, 2025, Pettersen posted about her visit to the Boys and Girls Club in Salida during her rural tour. She wrote, “One of my favorite parts of my recent rural tour was getting to spend time at the Boys and Girls Club in Salida! The amazing kids & staff are doing big things every day. 

Making sure our kids have a safe place to be while parents are at work helps them thrive and grow, and also”.

Later that same day, Pettersen addressed concerns about tariffs implemented under former President Donald Trump. She stated on August 19, 2025: “Trump Tariffs 101 means higher costs for parents who are already struggling to put a roof over their head, pay for groceries, and now buy school supplies for their kids.

Back-to-school season is underway but parents had to begin shopping sooner than ever because of Trump’s”.

On August 20, 2025, Pettersen highlighted community efforts in Lake County to address food insecurity. She posted: “It was great to be back in Lake County to see the incredible work local volunteers are doing to provide meals & support families in need.

The @FoodBankRockies and community partners are serving over 1,200 people, including through hot meal programs and a mobile food bus that”.

Brittany Pettersen has served as the U.S. Representative for Colorado’s 7th District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. Before joining Congress, she served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature—first in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2019 and then in the Senate until her election to Congress.

She was born in Colorado in 1981 and resides in Lakewood.

Pettersen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
