U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently shared reflections and public safety updates through a series of posts on her official X account.

On February 16, 2026, Pettersen marked Presidents’ Day by reflecting on the influence of former President Barack Obama in her political journey. She wrote, “On Presidents’ Day, I’m thinking about President Obama, who has been the most important person in my journey to eventually run for office. He inspired me and millions to believe in what’s possible for our country and our role in bringing the change we sought.”

The following day, February 17, 2026, Pettersen addressed constituents regarding emergency power shutoffs due to high winds and fire risk affecting parts of Southern Colorado. She posted: “Due to high winds and fire risk, @bhenergy has issued Emergency Power Shutoffs for parts of Southern CO, including Fremont, Cripple Creek, and Westcliffe.

Later that evening on February 17th, she acknowledged the beginning of Ramadan with a message to Muslim families locally and globally: “Tonight marks the first night of Ramadan — a sacred month of reflection, prayer, fasting, and community for Muslim families in Colorado and around the world.

At a moment when so many of us are facing fear and uncertainty, we are reminded of the power of faith, generosity…”

Brittany Pettersen has served as U.S. Representative since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before joining Congress she was a member of both chambers of Colorado’s legislature between 2013-2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41,1 Pettersen holds a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.2
