U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent national and international developments, as well as reflecting on her legislative work.
On April 7, 2026, Pettersen called for immediate congressional action regarding ongoing military conflict. She wrote, “The House must come back into session immediately to vote to end Trump’s war. The President is unhinged, lawless and bringing global chaos and we must stop him NOW. Our service members, Iranian civilians and our country’s national security depend on it. A day later, on April 8, 2026, she highlighted her advocacy for substance use disorder treatment coverage under Medicaid: “For years, I fought alongside so many advocates to ensure Medicaid covered substance use disorder treatment – drawing down hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding for treatment that saved countless lives. It was the single most important thing we have done as a state https://t.co/L9sxwqyQxT”.
On April 9, 2026, Pettersen commented on reports about detention conditions affecting families: “This is unconscionable. I truly can’t imagine if my children were being locked behind bars, unable to eat or attain medical attention. My heart breaks for him and his family. Trump said he’d target the ‘worst of the worst,’ but that is far from the reality. Nothing about this https://t.co/O1xiTQeqhJ”.
Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter. Before serving in Congress, she held positions in both chambers of the Colorado legislature from 2013 through early 2023 and has been involved with issues related to health care and criminal justice reform throughout her career. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen holds a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
