U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national policy issues and celebrating progress for the LGBTQ community.
On November 9, 2025, Pettersen criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding food assistance programs. She wrote, “Trump has taken every possible measure to ensure kids, seniors, veterans and families in need go hungry. From unlawfully withholding funds to demanding the Supreme Court intervene – this is the kind of President we have. More confusion. More chaos. More cruelty.”
The following day, on November 10, 2025, she commented on recent health care negotiations: “This is not a deal. This does nothing to address the skyrocketing costs of health care facing American families and I would never trust a ‘promise’ to vote on the ACA later from Republicans. While I join all of you in deep disappointment, this fight is far from over.”
Later that same day, Pettersen highlighted what she described as a positive development for LGBTQ rights: “I think we all need something to celebrate today. This is a big win for the progress we’ve made for our LGBTQ community.”
Brittany Pettersen began representing Colorado’s 7th congressional district in 2023 after succeeding Ed Perlmutter and has previously served in both chambers of Colorado’s state legislature (source: Fact 1; Fact 2). Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood at age 41 (Fact 3), she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver (Fact 4).
