U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen, who represents Colorado’s 7th district in Congress, issued several public updates on her official social media account this weekend regarding potential power shutoffs, internship opportunities, and community revitalization efforts.
On March 13, 2026, Pettersen alerted residents of Jefferson County to possible electricity disruptions: “If you’re in Jeffco — pay attention this weekend to potential power shutoff notifications. Xcel Energy is considering a planned shutoff on Saturday afternoon affecting up to 43,000 customers. High winds and dry conditions are raising wildfire concerns. The following day, March 14, she announced the opening of her Summer 2026 Internship Program for students interested in serving Colorado’s 7th District: “Applications for my Summer 2026 Internship Program are officially OPEN! We’re looking for motivated students to join our teams in Lakewood and D.C. to help us serve the people of CO-07. We prioritize applicants with Colorado ties because nobody knows our community better than”.
Later that same day, Pettersen shared details from her engagement with the West Colfax Community Association: “I joined the West Colfax Community Association to share how we’ve been working to support small businesses and revitalize the Colfax corridor. Brittany Pettersen has represented Colorado’s 7th Congressional District since replacing Ed Perlmutter in 2023. She previously served in both chambers of the Colorado legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Colorado in 1981 and currently residing in Lakewood, Pettersen graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
