Commissioner Rachel Zenzinger encouraged residents on Jan. 8 to make a New Year’s resolution to become more engaged with their county government. She said that active participation helps benefit the entire community.
Zenzinger highlighted the importance of transparency and accessibility from the Board of County Commissioners. She invited residents to attend public hearings, which are held most Tuesdays at 9 a.m. at the Jefferson County Administration and Courts Facility in Golden, or to participate virtually via WebEx where they can provide testimony and engage with board members in real time.
The board also hosts quarterly town hall meetings, both in person and through telephone town halls, so that residents across Jefferson County can ask questions and give feedback on issues such as wildfire resiliency and budgeting. Residents can pre-register their phone numbers online to receive automated invitations for these calls.
Upcoming events include a virtual Town Hall scheduled for Feb. 19 from 6-7 p.m., with more information available on the Town Hall webpage, as well as a State of the County event planned for April 2.
Zenzinger urged residents to sign up for LookoutAlert, which is Jefferson County’s emergency notification system designed to send alerts about wildfires, floods, or law enforcement activity by text, email, or voice call.
She also encouraged those interested in leadership roles within the community to apply for volunteer boards and commissions related to land use planning or library services. “We look forward to working together for a safe, healthy, and thriving Jeffco in the year ahead!” Zenzinger said.
