During the 2022-23 school year, school administrators in Jefferson County School District No. R-1 handed out 8,969 disciplinary actions, according to the Colorado Department of Education. That’s an increase over the previous school year.
Overall, there were a total of 8,947 suspensions handed out to students, and 22 expulsions.
White students suffered the most disciplinary actions (45.5%), followed by Hispanic or Latino students (43%), multiracial students (4.7%), Black students (4.6%), Asian students (1%), and American Indian or Alaska Native students (0.9%).
In comparison, Hispanic or Latino students made up 24.8%, white students accounted for 66.4%, Black students for 1.4%, Asian students for 3.1%, multiracial students for 4.3%, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander students for 0% of overall enrollment in Jefferson schools during 2022-23.
A total of 913 students had to be referred to law enforcement during the 2022-23 school year.
