Jefferson County Public Library issued the following announcement on Dec. 3.
‘Tis the season for safe, holiday family fun in Jefferson County! Now through December 31, take a stroll in downtown Golden to learn about different holiday traditions from all around the world!
The Holiday Story Strolls is a partnership between the city of Golden and Jefferson County Public Library to bring awareness of other cultures and celebrate global connections. Under the current public health guidelines, we want to avoid interacting with people outside our home. So the traditional Olde Golden Holiday Parade and candlelight walk won’t be able to happen this year, but the Holiday Story Strolls give us a new way to celebrate!
Pick up a map at the Golden Visitors Center for the location of all 11 engaging and creative displays, or use this electronic map, opens a new window. Each story board highlights a different holiday tradition from cultures around the world. Be sure to stop by Golden Library, the third stop on the map, and read a story board sharing the history of Golden’s Candlelight Walk! You can also pick up a Holiday word search and coloring sheet, opens a new window during curbside service hours, or print them from home.
You can play, too! Download the Scavify App, opens a new window to participate in a virtual scavenger hunt. Earn points as you complete the tasks and answer trivia questions at each stop along the way. The first 50 people to check in at all the stops will get a Golden holiday ornament, and all finishers will be entered to win a $100 gift card! Just download the app and search “Olde Golden Christmas Holiday Story Stroll” to join.
