Patent office approves 2 patents for Lakewood innovators in week ending Aug. 22

Patent 3

There were two patents granted in Lakewood in the week ending Aug. 22, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is two more than the week before. Patents included an extraction of metals from metallic compounds.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 22 belonged to Rare Element Resources, Ltd. who filed in Aug. 20, 2015.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
