Pettersen criticizes congressional decisions, GOP Medicaid plan, and economic impact of tariffs

On April 8, 2025, Pettersen commented on a House petition aimed at making Congress more accessible to young families and more representative of the American populace. She noted, "We had a large majority of the Members of the House support changing the way we do things in Congress to make it more accessible to young families and more reflective of the American people. She observed that while billionaires could endure the financial impacts, "Billionaires may be able to weather the storm of Trump’s tariffs but it’s working families and regular people who will be hit the hardest. Significant increases in costs of necessities like housing, cars, groceries, and gas are going to make it even more difficult for those who".
