U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen, serving Colorado's 7th district since 2023, recently shared several updates on her social media platform. These posts highlight her engagement with local community achievements and legislative developments affecting Colorado residents.
On January 31, 2025, Rep. Pettersen congratulated Annette Stolba on her retirement after a notable career as an emergency dispatcher in Chaffee County. In her message, she stated: "Congratulations to Annette Stolba on a well-earned retirement after 42 years of helping to save lives and keep Chaffee County safe as an emergency dispatcher for @ChaffeeSheriff. We wish you all the best as you enjoy your next chapter with your family."
Later that day, Rep. Pettersen addressed the passage of the Social Security Fairness Act, emphasizing its impact on over 92,000 Colorado seniors who previously faced reduced benefits due to their public service roles. She explained: "The Social Security Fairness Act repealed a provision that unfairly reduced benefits for 92,000+ CO seniors who worked as educators, firefighters, police officers, & other public servants. Thanks to the new law their monthly benefits will increase by an average of $360-$1,190."
Additionally, Rep. Pettersen marked the anniversary of the first Social Security check issuance by reaffirming her commitment to safeguarding and expanding this essential program. She noted: "Today we celebrate 85 years since the first Social Security check was issued. I am committed to protecting this program from dangerous cuts and making sure it works for those it serves. Recently, we passed the first expansion of Social Security in DECADES."
