U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen, who has been serving Colorado's 7th district since 2023, has recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding several decisions made by former President Donald Trump. Pettersen, a Democrat and former member of the Colorado House of Representatives and Senate, took to Twitter to voice her opinions on matters affecting both local and international communities.
On March 3, 2025, Pettersen criticized Trump's decision to dismiss federal employees at key agencies such as the National Forest Service. She emphasized the risks this posed to public safety in Colorado: "Firefighters like Kris risk their lives every day to keep us safe. Trump's reckless decision to fire federal employees at critical agencies- like the National Forest Service - puts Coloradans’ homes, livelihoods and lives at risk."
The following day, March 4, 2025, she commented on international affairs concerning Ukraine. Pettersen lamented what she perceived as a betrayal of American values under Trump's leadership: "This is a tragic day for the Ukrainian people, our European allies, and the world. We vowed to defend Ukraine against a brutal dictator who invaded their country, and in just over a month of Trump, have turned our backs on everything America has stood for and fought for."
Later that same day, Pettersen addressed economic issues related to tariffs imposed by Trump. She argued that these measures were detrimental to American families while benefiting wealthy individuals: "Trump’s tariffs are a tax on hardworking families across the US who are already struggling to make ends meet - all to pay for tax breaks for billionaires. He promised to lower prices on 'Day One,' but instead, everything will be more expensive, including groceries, cars."
