U.S. Representative Brittany Pettersen, serving Colorado’s 7th District, has been active in addressing various concerns through social media, including federal program cuts and local community issues. Pettersen, who succeeded Ed Perlmutter in Congress in 2023, replaced him after serving in the Colorado House of Representatives and the Colorado Senate.
On April 15, Rep. Pettersen tweeted about the efforts she and Rep. Suzanne Bonamici have undertaken alongside 58 other colleagues, focusing on the sudden cessation of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program. She stated, ".@RepBonamici and I led 58 of our colleagues in demanding answers from Trump’s appointees at FEMA after the abrupt halt of the BRIC program, which delivered billions for wildfire prevention to protect our communities before disaster strikes."
The following day, on April 16, Rep. Pettersen shared her experiences from a visit to several rural counties, aiming to communicate updates from Washington, D.C., and hear constituents' concerns. The tweet indicated her engagement with local seniors and communities affected by cuts in the federal budget. She tweeted, "I’m back on the road visiting some of our rural counties to share updates from Washington and hear directly from community members about their concerns and the impacts the disastrous Republican budget cuts will have on their community."
On April 17, she highlighted the significance of public lands on the economy and local lifestyle, drawing attention to federal budget reductions that jeopardize wildfire mitigation, response, and land management. She expressed her concerns while visiting a local campground with Senator Michael Bennet, posting, "Our public lands are critical to our economy and our Colorado way of life, but even these cherished places are at risk right now with federal funding cuts that threaten wildfire mitigation and response, and land management."
Brittany Pettersen, 41, born in Colorado in 1981, currently resides in Lakewood and holds a BA from the Metropolitan State University of Denver.
